Corinth, MS: Corinth began in 1854 as Cross City. It's proxomoty to the Tennessee River and the railroads made it of great strategic value during the Civil War. The Battle of Corinth was fought October 3-4, 1862. With the railroads, Corinth played a huge role in the Battle of Shiloh, which was a turning point in the war.
