Snellville: The Promised Land Plantation in 1861- Today its the oldest Pplantation that still stands in Gwinnett County. Margrett Mitchell the author of "Gone With The Wind", used to visit frequently, while she wrote her novel. 40% of her book came from the diary of Thomas Maguire, without proper recognition. The original diary is at Augusta Historical Society in a bank vault. Today the Promised Land is owned by a tri-racial family named the Livseys
