Patisserie Orleans is a small bistro/bakery based on the culinary history of New Orleans, which includes the deposed Acadians from Nova Scotia, the immigrant Germans who farmed the land, the Spanish and French government, the Italian restauranteurs and the Islanders from the Caribbean who added the spice. We specialize in old fashioned Southern bakery goods incorporating the various ethnic backgrounds of the settlers of NOLA, and a New Orleans twist on daily sandwiches, soups and salads. Best sellers are cafe au lait made with chicory coffee, beignets, muffaletta sandwiches and fresh breads. Bakery goods from the south are offered daily. Special dietary needs (vegan, gluten free and sugar free) are always welcome on a pre-order basis, a premise of our philosophy to healthy eating. Catering also available. Birthday parties for children are a hit -- decorate a cake, cupcakes, make monkey bread or frost cookies -- mom's love it: no goodie bags needed. Cooking classes have been successful. One of our philosophies is to contribute to the community and we do that in our support of PADS, an NFP organization which oversees many homeless shelters in Lake County. We also employ students from the local high school; quiite personable kids who learn to cook and run a business from the ground up. Their ideas are always welcome. We believe that to create a healthy population is to learn to cook, learn to explore taste and eat unadulterated foods. Hours: 9-5 Tuesday through Sunday. Located by the duck pond near the intersection of Robert Parker Coffin Rd and Old McHenry Rd in the heart of historic Long Grove Illinois.
