The Cayuga County Red Cross help citizens prevent, prepare for and respond to disasters and emergencies with comprehensive and Nationally recognized training in first aid, CPR, AED use, Babysitting and a host of other life saving skills; by responding 24/7 to disasters, large and small including single family home fires, offering free assistance with temporary accomodations / food / clothing replacement and collaborating with other local agencies to help victims get back on their feet; by collecting over 5,000 units of blood to supply Auburn Memorial Hospital and other Upstate medical facilities with needed blood and blood products; by serving as the offical communication link between military personnel and their families; by assisting families, the elderly and disabled in need with funding for their energy bills through Project Share and FEMA; by providing medical equipment libraried for free use by any citizen; and by reaching into local towns, villages and schools with free Community Disaster Education programs to instill knowledge and the ability to be ready for a disaster.
