• See Beaufort by water, a slice of the Lowcountry you won't see anywhere else. Departing daily aboard the 24-passenger Prince of Tides (canopied for comfort). Ecology of the salt marsh; dolphins where they live and play; homes of the planters; dozens of species of shore and wading birds. We depart from the Downtown Marina of Beaufort, located at the Henry Chambers Waterfront Park. From there we proceed upriver past the historic Point neighborhood all the way to Pleasant Point Plantation, which dates to the 1720's. We almost always see dolphins along the way, as well as osprey, herons, egrets, pelicans and many other water birds. We discuss the unique ecology of the salt marsh, and its relationship to Port Royal Sound, one of the most productive salt water estuaries in the world. Call for times and reservations.
