- Watters Edge Canoe Livery is located two miles North of Roscommon, Mich. We rent canoes, kayaks, and river-tubes for float trips on the south branch of the Au Sable River. Our season is from May through October. We are open for walk-in customers seven days a week from June 15 to Labor Day. Reservations are a good idea for Saturdays and trips before June 15 or after Labor Day.. Our best trip is a four hour float through the George Mason Wilderness Retreat or more commonly known as "The Mason Tract". The Mason tract is a 14 mile river trip through a pristine Northern Michigan Retreat. Canoe Harbor Campground is located at the northern part on the Mason Tract. Watters Edge offers two shorter float trips for less experienced paddlers and overnight trips for the more adventurous.
