Carrizo Wash

The Carrizo Wash is an area inside of Anza Borrego State Park that is the subject of a number of eerie mysteries and ghost stories. The Phantom Stage of Carrizo is the story of a mysterious stage coach reported to be seen passing through the town of Vallecito by the former site of the station. The Carrizo Wash is the starting point of the Phantom State that starts its ride toward the station. The coach is pulled by four mules and is driven by one driver. There are no passengers on the coach as it moves through Carrizo Wash and it can be seen hesitating for just a moment as it passes the former site of the station. The coach travels on after hesitating until it can no longer be seen. Those who have "seen" the events involving the coach are in disbelief and they are surprised to see there were wheels and hoof prints left behind following the ghostly passage. There are few explanations for why the events in Carrizo Wash occur, but too many people have been witness to the coach passing through to think it is just a coincidence. If you want to give yourself a shot at experiencing a real ghostly event, head to Vallecito and the Carrizo Wash.
