Description: Mayo Clinic Scottsdale opened in 1987 and, owing to the Mayo Clinic reputation, it serves a varied clientele. More than 280 physicians are available to patients at the Mayo Clinic Scottsdale. It is also part of an integrated, multicampus system that includes the 205-bed Mayo Clinic Hospital, located in northeast Phoenix, several primary care centers throughout the Valley, and the Mayo Center for Women’s Health. It is a multispecialty outpatient clinic with more than 240 exam rooms, an outpatient surgery center, a full-service laboratory, a pharmacy, a patient-education library, and an endoscopy suite. The Mayo Clinic’s Samuel C. Johnson Medical Research Building is a basic science research lab and is currently conducting research in such areas as molecular genetics and cellular and molecular biology. Clinical research trials give patients access to the latest medical treatments. It is also a teaching institution. More than 65 medical and surgical specialties are practiced at the clinic, which includes an NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center, organ transplantation, a breast clinic, a gastrointestinal endoscopy program, a sleep disorders center, and state-of-the-art radiation oncology treatment. The Mayo Clinic Scottsdale also offers a patient-education library and a 188-seat auditorium for patient- and physician-education programs. Also on the clinic’s campus is Courtyard by Marriott, a 124-room hotel that is available for overnight stays for patients and their families.
