Description: Now sponsored by Webster Bank, this beautifully designed venue off of I-95 in Bridgeport is directly next to the Bridgeport Bluefish stadium and provides a huge sports and entertainment destination for Fairfield County. The 10,000-seat arena brings in concerts, comedy performances, and the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, and hosts Fairfield University’s NCAA basketball season. But the biggest draw (other than when hometown guitar legend John Mayer plays here) is the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. The Sound Tigers (as in Long Island Sound) play in the AHL hockey league every winter, and seats right on the ice are reasonably priced for the board-slamming action. It’s worth the couple extra bucks to get right up front and watch your kids (and probably yourself) pound on the glass as the players slide by. There are food concessions throughout the concourse, or you can walk underneath I-95 to Ralph and Rich’s excellent Italian restaurant.
