Description: Right on the green in New Haven, this modern American restaurant uses regional produce, cheeses, and even liquors to give you a true local experience. Connecticut native Chef Denise Appel creates wonderful fusion cuisine, part French, part Vietnamese, and all American. Combining this with the Farm-to-Table ethos is difficult, and Zinc is rightly proud of their accomplishments, which have brought it various honors around the state. Try the smoked duck nachos for an appetizer, and their tortelloni with smoked paprika and saffron cream. Afterwards, sit at the bar and try one of Zinc’s signature cocktails, like the Cider Car, made with Connecticut’s own apple brandy from Westford Hill Distillery. Around the back of the restaurant is Kitchen Zinc, an offshoot café specializing in artisan pizzas.
