Description: BAR looks far more like a tavern than a nightclub, and actually serves some fantastic pizzas. The front room has a long bar and pool table, and there are two other rooms to dine in as well. This is a popular after-work party place for employees of the various companies in the city, and you can see them gathered around the front room’s tables, eating brick-oven pizza and drinking the tavern’s microbrews. The huge back room, called Bartropolis, is where the action is, on a large dance floor with a giant purple tower. DJs spin hip-hop, techno, tribal, samba, and whatever gets the crowd moving. During the week they also have acoustic nights with local musicians. BAR has been around since 1991, which, of course, is very long for a club. That is partly due to its double life as a popular tavern, partly due to its unique architecture, and partly due to the fact that it remains a great place to go to dance.
