Description: The Saybrook Point Dock and Dine sits at the end of a peninsula, right at the mouth of the Connecticut River, and the windows look out onto the lapping waves and sailboats sliding up to the docks for their evening meal. This is not a rustic seafood shack, but something in between a family restaurant and fine dining. The window seats here are obviously key, but you can see the water from everywhere, in a dining room seemingly overhanging the Sound. Though they serve great burgers and steaks, the menu is primarily seafood, with standouts like the bouillabaisse and the lobster ravioli. You can eat outside in warm weather, but the dining room is so great anyway, why fight the bugs? Go for a walk along the wharf after dinner, and if you’re there for lunch, walk over to the Fort Saybrook Historic Park, just across the parking lot. This is a great place to take your future wife on a first date.
