Description: The Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport is about 10 miles north of Savannah. The exit number off I-95 is 104. Delta (800-221-1212; www.delta.com), and USAirways (800-428-4322; www.usairways.com) are the largest carriers and also have been with the airport the longest. Other airlines include Continental (800-525-0280; www.continental.com), United Express (800-864-8331; www.united.com), and American Eagle (800-433-7300; www.aa.com). Nonstop flights are available via various carriers to Atlanta, Charlotte, Newark, Cincinnati, Houston, Miami, New York (La Guardia), Washington, D.C. (Dulles), Dallas, Detroit, Chicago (O’Hare), and Philadelphia. On weekends, Pittsburgh is an additional nonstop destination from here. The lineup at the airport is prone to change, so stay abreast of flights and airlines via the airport’s website. The Airport Commission is on a constant mission to keep the flight selection competitive and cost-effective. It’s also easy to confirm flight arrivals and departures because the website stays current. Not to mislead, the proper name—Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport—is correct, even though there are currently no international flights. (The name was amended to include Hilton Head since about half of the passenger traffic is bound there.) Although the airline getting you here may change, one constant will be where you will arrive. When passengers arrive or depart, they walk through Savannah Square, a relaxing seating area patterned after Savannah’s famous downtown squares.
