Description: You can’t really talk about the Cape Arundel Inn without mentioning the fact that it stares out at Walker Point, the home of the Bush family. All but two of the inn’s rooms have a view of the presidential compound jutting out into the open Atlantic, and the wraparound porch takes it all in, too. Built as a summer cottage in 1895, the inn is a shingle-style showplace, with its own turret, and it’s been run since 1997 by Jack Nahil, the innkeeper who made a world-class facility out of the White Barn Inn, so you know it will be comfortable. The dining room is one of the area’s best, and the rooms are right up there. Seven are in the main house itself, and they all have sitting areas. On the side of the building is Rockbound, a “motelly” spot built in the 1950s, where there are six large rooms with handcrafted furnishings, and there is also the Carriage House suite, on the second level of the carriage house, which has its own private deck. The main house rooms don’t have TVs, but the others do; all have direct-dial phones and Wi-Fi, and all have private baths. The gardens are beautiful, and the white Adirondacks on the lawn are inviting.
