The Tides Inn - Accommodations - Kennebunkport, Maine

City: Kennebunkport, ME
Category: Accommodations
Telephone: (207) 967-3757
Address: Goose Rocks Beach

Description: The location of this Victorian charmer is ideally suited for beachgoers—Goose Rocks Beach is right across the street. Designed by famous shingle-style architect John Calvin Stevens, the inn used to be known as the New Belvidere, and it hosted such eminent guests as Teddy Roosevelt and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle back in the day. (It’s said that original owner Emma Foss, who died many decades ago, still looks after things.) Gracious today, the inn has nice porches with fine views and 22 bedrooms, each individually decorated. These rooms are on the small side, and they don’t have phones or TVs or other distractions (those are available in the lobby), but several do have absolutely stunning panoramas out their windows. Adjacent to the inn is Tides Too, a condo complex with two-bedroom suites and more modern amenities. Also on the premises is the Belvidere Club, which is popular with the locals (“inn-toxicating,” they say).
