Description: Can’t have an inn in southern Maine without adding “motelly” units, and that’s the story at this big gambrel-roofed colonial, which has been welcoming guests since the 1920s. If you have a location like this one—right in the village and a short stroll from the beach, with the water ever present—you might as well take advantage of it. There are now lodging options in five buildings here at the end of an anonymous lane. The main house has 12 rooms and three suites, each with private bath, cable TV, Wi-Fi, and air-conditioning (except for rooms 4 and 6). Many of the rooms have views and/or private balconies. The Wharf House setup is somewhat similar with five rooms and a common living area, and the Dockside Motel has six more rooms, even closer to the drink. Seven efficiency apartments are available (at $1,095 to $1,795 per week) for longer stays. Open from mid-April through late October.
