Description: Often referred to as the “jewel” of Nassau County’s impressive park system, Eisenhower Park encompasses 930 acres and is the largest public park space in New York’s entire metropolitan area—yes, even larger than New York City’s Central Park. In addition to vast wooded spaces and plush lawns, the park offers a wide range of outdoor activities for athletes and families alike. It was officially dedicated in Oct 1949, but rededicated as the Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial Park in Oct 1969. Eisenhower Park is located in East Meadow, along Merrick Ave. and Stewart Ave. To reach the park by car, take the Meadowbrook Pkwy. North to exit M3 (East/Stewart Ave.). Turn right onto Stewart Ave. and follow it until you reach the park’s main entrance. If you’re approaching from the Meadowbrook Pkwy. South, take exit M3 (Stewart Ave.). As you exit, turn left onto Stewart Ave. and follow it until you reach the park’s main entrance.There is a small fee to participate in some of the activities and use some of the facilities, many of which are available throughout the entire year.
