Description: Aside from the seashell roadside stands that clustered around the restaurants of Calabash, the nautical gift shop was one of the first stores in the area, and it has been growing every year for the past 30 years. The long arm of this L-shaped store has a fudge counter, a clothing section, weather vanes, and a whole selection of items from a $1 harmonica to $3,500 brass and leather telescopes. St. Nick Nack’s completes the other arm of the L, and it probably has the most, if not the best, selection of Christmas decorations around. The displays of St. Nick Nack’s are breathtaking. Glass ornaments from teeny to colossal surround you, oversized reindeer vault down from the ceiling, thick garlands trim everything, and Christmas trees are tucked in every corner. There is also a Halloween and an Easter room. The Pea Landing Mercantile Country, Home, and Garden section was added, with a plethora of nature-inspired selections from frogs to wind chimes. During the summer, Callahan’s is open 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. In the winter months they close at 9 p.m. Sun through Thurs.
