Alex Theatre

The Alex Theatre is one of Glendale, California's performing arts theatres. It is a historical structure located downtown in the business and entertainment region of the city. Many visitors to the Alex live within a twenty five mile radius, which has a population of over 500,000. The building was constructed in 1925 as a vaudeville and movie house. It used to run Hollywood previews and first run films. That is until the 1980s when it was shut down. However, in 1992 the Glendale Redevelopment Agency bought the building. They spent $6.2 million in renovations to bring the Alex back to life as a performing arts center. It took until 1993, New Year's Eve to reopen the theater. It has five companies servicing it.

Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Glendale Youth Orchestra, Alex Film Society, Gay Men's Chorus Los Angeles, and the Musical Theatre Guild are the five. Each of these companies provides entertainments throughout the year to keep the entire city's population content. Film shoots, events, concerts and more are held at the theater. Programming changes each year to keep visitors and residents happy. Tickets will vary per show and show times are typical of performing arts theaters with matinees and evening shows.
