Mount Gleason


Mount Gleason is located outside of Los Angeles in Glendale, California. Glendale is actually a borough of the large city. Mount Gleason is located in Angeles National Forest, which offers the San Gabriel Mountains. The forest was established in 1908 incorporating San Bernardino National Forest and San Gabriel National Forest. The forest is 655,387 acres. Mount Gleason is one of the peaks located in the national park. It stands at 6,502 feet. It is the second tallest mountain, with Mount Islip as the first.

Visitors to the mountain can enjoy a myriad of activities from water sports, fishing, skiing, and hiking. Mount Gleason is also the name of a campground. The campground is one of the most popular for residents of Acton. It is possible to see Mount Gleason from the campground, as well as hike it. The campground has a hiking trail called Gold Canyon Trail. It is the closest one to the campground. The campground can be quite hot in summer with temperatures in the 90s. During winter the temperatures will dip to get a bit cooler especially at higher elevations, allowing it to be perfect for skiing. There are 53 trail heads total, with three wilderness areas and 10 lakes.
