California Delta


Although not as well known as areas like the Napa Valley and Hollywood, the California Delta is a popular tourist destination near Sacramento that offers dining, lodging, recreation, and a variety of fun for the entire family. The area has a long history with its roots in the riverboating age. After the development of the automobile the area faced its demise. Today, there is one steamboat in operation in the Delta, in addition to the numerous recreation boats that run in the area. Travelers to the Delta will be treated to a variety of waterfront restaurants that range from laid-back casual dining establishments to gourmet, fine dining restaurants. Choose from juicy steaks and Delta-caught crawdads, all served riverside. Restaurants include Bob's at the Marina, the Breadfruit Tree, Chitiva's Salsa and Sports Bar and Grill, the Flamingo Lounge, Foster's Bighorn, Garlic Brothers, and Grand Island Mansion. The Delta is a popular overnight destination for people from all over the state and lodging options include hotels, motels, inns and riverside bed and breakfasts in all price ranges. The Delta is a large area including parts of Sacramento, Antioch, Pittsburgh, and Stockton. Like many areas of California the Delta features wineries that produce some of the state's best-known wines. The wineries, in addition to a number of other spots in the Delta that are ideal for destination weddings.
