Golden Canyon

Golden Canyon can be found by going through Death Valley Junction, which is east of Death Valley National Park, California. There is a trail which will take you up to Golden Canyon. The trail offers a beautiful hike up from 160 feet below sea level to about 300 feet above. In fact this occurs all in one mile with an uphill trail the entire way.

Once you make it to the top of the trail you will see Golden Canyon. From the canyon you have views of Panamint Mountains. About halfway up the mountains are aprons of rock, which spread out along the valley floor, helping to bury part of the mountain range.

Since the valley was once filled with water it is easy to see sediment and fan shaped deposits. Wind also helps create this pattern on the floor. Death Valley National Park is known for its size, shape, and even the alluvial fans. To see more of the national park visitors may want to go to Golden Canyon where flash floods have also had a part in their creation. The walls of the canyon have been known to be confining due to their structure.
