Lippincott Mine Road

Lippincott Mine Road is one of the remote back country roads in Death Valley National Park, California. The road is accessible by 4 wheel drive vehicles. There are two ways to get to the road, one through Death Valley Junction, an unincorporated town. The other is through the national park. An experienced driver should probably take the road rather than someone not used to off road travels. The average time on the road is one hour, but one should take about 3 hours because it takes at least 2 from the pavement roads to get to Lippincott Mine Road.

As a point of reference the road is west of Scotty's Castle, another National Park landmark. Along the drive visitors should expect to see desert, wildlife, and old mines like Lippincott Mine. Along the way there are several interesting points like the Racetrack. Washouts occur, often making travel sporadic depending on how the forest service has decided to maintain things. Lippincott Mine Road is also called mountain goat trail because it used to be used by goats to get food to those in the mining camps. From Saline Valley Road near Panamint Springs visitors can reach Lippincott Mine Road.
