Mountain High


Mountain High in Wrightwood, California is home to skiing for locals and visitors. At the mountain is Mountain High Ski Resort. There is the west, east, and north resort for those who wish to stay. The mountain itself is 8,200 feet on the east peak with a base at 6,600 feet. The west mountain peak is 8,000 elevation, with a base at 7,000. The north mountain is the shortest at 7,800 for the peak and 7,200 for the north base. Wrightwood, California is only at 6,000 feet above sea level.

The mountains offer a vertical rise of about 1,600 feet, with 290 acres of skiable terrain. 515 acres is permit terrain and on average the mountain sees 142 inches of snow. Typically, the season begins in early November and ends in late April. There are 59 trails on Mountain High for skiing. 14 trails are beginner, 23 are intermediate, and 22 are advanced trails for the most experienced skiers.

Snowmaking is roughly 80 percent of the snow at the resort, which helps to keep the quality on the mountain face for skiers. There are a total of 16 chairlifts, with 5 moving carpets and 5 double chairlifts.
