Veterans Memorial Hall & Military Museum

The Veterans Memorial Hall and Military Museum is situated in a building that was dedicated in 1933 in honor of the war veterans and those who gave their life for their country from Sonora, California. Today the building acts as a memorial itself as well as a museum housing many artifacts and unique memorabilia of those who are honored as heroes of the state and nation.

There are honorary mentions of those who fought in World War I and the plaque on the wall reads that the building was erected in 1932 in appreciation of the patriotism of the war veterans of Tuolumne County and is especially dedicated to the memory of those men who gave their lives in the World War of 1917 to 1918. Several names are listed in memory of those men who fought.

Another marker on the building recognizes and gives tribute to Women Military Veterans. The plaque is in honor of those women of the armed forces who have served with honor and pride to protect our country. The plaque mentions those who did not return and those who shed their blood in order to protect our nation from conflict.

Other wars mentioned and giving tribute to those lost include the Persian Gulf War, the Vietnam War, and World War II.
