This reunion story was on NBC Nightly News tonight -- two sisters, separated by the adoption of one, were unexpectedly reunited at a high school track meet.

They were born only nine months apart and have many common interests, so the reunion seems to be going well so far. According to an earlier story, they're searching for other birth siblings -- and have found four so far.

Interesting story - came across it a this week. Although not even birth sibs raised together always share commonality in interests etc, I found I was not surprised that these two did despite their different upbringings. It was ???? nice??? - not the exact word I'm looking for - that the adopted sister's mother seems to have a practical down-to-earth attitude about this new development in their lives.

I'm happy they met each other, but other than that, this story is not really about adoption...might end up closing this thread.

Jaded - how can this story not be about adoption? At the very core it is about adoption, the complexities, the wide range of experiences and feelings. Jordon's mom - is her mom through adoption, how she has accepted into Jordon's sister into her family with grace and acceptance of the fact that with adoption another family is forever linked to them - legally or not.

The above story has a lot of direct quotes from both Jordon and her mom - primarily her mom. It also speaks to the evolution that adoption has gone through in the recent decades where many previously closed adoptions have become open and embraced openness in whatever form works for them.

Actually there are threads on the forum that already discuss reunions such as this...I may just move these posts over to one of them.
