There is not a direct link to adoption in this story but if this baby was stolen to sell, it most likely had something to do with adoption. There is no low when it comes to profiteering off innocent children. I've heard of lawyers, doctors, government officials, adoption agencies...you name it who think nothing of manipulations to make money off naive peole and innocent children. Thank god this woman was observant and determined.
I can't figure out from the story, what was the point of the baby-swapping? Both sets of parents were given babies, so what advantage would accrue to the doctor to trade the two?
And why would anyone willingly travel from the U.S. to El Salvador to have a baby?
The baby's mother is Salvadorean. My guess is that she wanted her family to be available to help with the baby.
Considering that there is considerable discussion of the color of the baby's skin, perhaps a light skinned baby would command a higher price, and the mother whose baby was switched did not want to keep her baby.
I saw this story on the news and I thought how sad . Then I asked what are they going to do with the baby they have since he or she is not their birth child ? I mean where does this baby end up ? will they keep this baby or will they let he or she go back to an adoption agency ? I mean this brings up so many consequences and reactions so sad for all involved .
Apparently the baby who was swapped has been returned to his birth family, too.
