This morning we fielded a call from a couple concerned about their adoption in the Ukraine.

https://travel.state.gov/content/tra...n/Ukraine.html

Their adoption agency states that they have not been informed by the Ukrainian government that they will stop working on adoptions. However, with personnel being evaluated from the US Embassy/Consultants, and as a result of that evaluation there is no processing of adoption paperwork. We have sent a demand letter to this agency demanding to know how this couples adoption will continue given the unrest that is occurring in this country. I seriously doubt we will receive a response from this agency.

Clearly, anyone considering international adoption in the Ukraine would be wise to reconsider their plans.

I'm really sorry for anyone whose adoption may be affected by the situation in Ukraine, whether they were to be the parents or the children. Unfortunately, innocent people's lives are often ruined by politics and world affairs and this goes double for international adoptions.

Our friends, a Chinese-American couple, were in the process of adopting an older boy from China. They were planning to travel to get him the summer of 2020, then Covid happened. They couldn't go last year either because of Covid. If they can't go this year, the whole thing will be off and he will never be adopted because he will have turned 14 and aged out of the system. It's truly sad.

I'm really sorry to hear about your friends trying to adopt from China. It sounds like a very difficult situation.

I agree with you that international adoptions is in complete collapse due to politics and world affairs. It just don't understand adoption agencies that continue to tell couples that adoptions in the Ukraine are still possible.

They probably just want the money. After all, Americans are "rich" and won't miss it, right?

They can so they will because it's not regulated like it should be.

Americans are desperate for babies and children, we all know it's a big dollar business. They can promise one baby to a thousand hopeful couples....
