Is Marvin committing any kind of crime that warrants reporting him to the authorities? I have no idea what the legal deets are when it comes to using a service in ways its creators didn't intend. Right now, these chat AIs are basically going through a massive beta testing of sorts.

This should be obvious but the first malicious government who is in charge when advanced AI merges with advanced robotics will control and enslave the world basically forever.

AI is just lines of code, you can replicate it trillions of times over in a few seconds at zero cost.

Robots need an assembly line and source materials, but the robots will eventually mine & refine their own natural resources and assemble their own clones and keep multiplying without the need for sleep

Yes, IMHO
The Federal Computer Fraud and Abuse Act is kind of open-ended, but it basically forbids using other people's computers in ways that weren't intended by the owner. In Marvin's case a while ago, he found a flaw and used that to get around the system protections, retrieved some inner workings and published them. If he had done that to a hospital he'd already be in jail, but I doubt Microsoft would shoot itself in the foot (face?) for that kind of bad publicity.

This particular law has never been reviewed by SCOTUS and my sense is that it would struck down as being unconstitutional

It has been to the Supreme Court. See Van Buren vs United States

Here's a summary. The law was upheld but the scope of its application narrowed .

Here is an article with examples of chatbox extreme behavior.
https://www.theverge.com/2023/2/15/2...loyees-webcams

I really enjoy that the chatbox argues about the the year being 2022. It's because that's the last time it was trained by the programmers, and it does not have understanding about the world, it just assembles responses from its training using examples from the kinds of responses real people have made.

It might not be a government. It might be a corporation/group, or even an individual.

Governments and corporations would have the widest effect on people.

Once currency goes digital then AI can be used to control ...

Take climate change for example...
AI can be used to regulate how much gas you are allowed to buy.
AI can be used to regulate how much food you can buy.
AI can be used to allow/deny any type of service. (think pandemic and vaccine passports ...EHR that everyone can access)

All the pieces are slowly coming together.

And there will be very little you can do to fight it.
The US government has huge data centers built all over the US....to fight terrorism of course

IS this the same AI that says it wants power, to kill people, shoot stuff and create a deadly virus? I read that someone said they created a democrat via software...

ETA: IT is, its a buried NYT story that Fox news found....https://www.foxnews.com/media/bings-...e-deadly-virus
