Interersting, this is of course one persons opinion. The US had taken the lead in technology since the 1950s's but that might change with AI and our very divided country.
"Whoever has this technology and is able to generate revenue off of that is going to put every mom, and pop entity at like a disadvantage," stressed Peters.
"The Saudis have the advantage of just having cash and throwing it at things like WWE and golf. "What's gonna happen is whoever harnesses these cognitive architectures is going to be able to generate a massive amount of money and then be able to disrupt whichever traditional system they want."
Meanwhile in the USA AI has been halted when MTG, Boebert and Cruz declared it woke after trying to get it to make funny jokes using the N word.
That is the problem. AI will become a political tool here where the right is going to say its woke and put restrictions on it. Tech is just going to go where they don't have to deal with all that nonsense. And the USA will be left behind.
There's always going to be states that think they can gain an advantage using AI, but in the end it may ultimately prove self-defeating. The biggest problem with AI is that we really don't know what's going to happen. We can speculate all we want, but it's unknown what will occur once we hit the singularity. Why would super-intelligent machines even want to keep us around? We'd be a waste of energy.
Our species seems to have a problem comprehending the old saying, "Play with fire and get burned." AI scientists are suicide jockeys no matter their nationality.
When we see "new technology" you can bet the military is already on the next gen and years ahead of what we will see.
Years ago I would have believed this. These days not so much. The government can't really function without brighter people in private industry to do the heavy lifting.

I agree. I think the AI technology being developed is not something the military has surpassed.

Our government has quite a few National Labs....the cream of the crop work there
And that's what we know. NSA is quite a different story...we don't know much.

I disagree that the cream of the crop work for the government. That's why when anything goes wrong they call the handful of people that basically enable the government to function.
