Doctors have been exploring if artificial intelligence (AI) can help in improving the accuracy of breast cancer screening. Although early results seemed promising, there hasn't been a major trial until now.
In this Swedish study, AI-supported screenings detected slightly more cancers than the traditional method. The AI system also reduced the number of times radiologists had to review scans by 44.3%. The study also found that AI's accuracy in identifying cancers was comparable to the traditional method.
