I was looking at a tax rates website for NY State and while i was looking at Schenectady County, I noticed that some of the Schenectady City SD is in the Town of Rotterdam. Does anyone know what part of the town is in that SD?

This is the site: Tax Rates (http://php.democratandchronicle.com/tax_rates/ - broken link)

I'd have to guess maybe near the Bellevue neighborhood of Sch'dy. Whenever I drive by Van Corlear School on Guilderland Ave I'm always shocked it's a Sch'dy school, so maybe some Rotterdam kids go there?

I also wonder if the area of Rotterdam in the Schenectady City Sd are grandfathered areas of the district. You get that with some city school districts because there were areas just outside of city limits that went to those schools before suburban school district consolidation and centralization.

There are several streets in the Rotterdam area near Altamont Av. that are in Rotterdam district 10--those streets are zoned for Schenectady City Schools. Over 60 years ago, tax payers made a decision to remain in SCD rather than joining Carman, which is now Mohonasen.
SCS were the showcase of progressive education in those days. I know I am a product of SCS, having lived on Wagner St. and then taught in Schenectady for 35 years.

I thought that the other school district in Rotterdam was Draper.

Draper was incorporated into Mohonasen around 1984. The middle school at Mohonasen is now named Draper. The old Draper school building has been vacant for years and is slated to be turned into apartments.
