Hello,

I'm looking to move from out of town. There are a few places I'm interested in around the Arroyo Del Oso Park, within a 1.5 mile radius. Is this a good area? I'm not concerned with schools. But I'm concerned about: friendliness, cleanliness, reasonable traffic (I don't want it to take an hour to go a few miles), safety, reasonable COL(mainly rent and insurance), ease to get places ie grocery stores, restaurants, mall, etc.

Where is ABQ's downtown, and "trendy", "yuppy", "snooty" (ex: better than everyone else), and "college" (ex: frats/sorority/party) areas.

Thanks!

That is a great area. There are a great variety of choices in that area. From Middle to High end.

Downtown is downtown. Well it is South of I40 and East of I25, west of the Rio Grande.

Trendy is EDO or East Downtown and Nob Hill. Both straddle Central. Snooty is probably going to depend on your definition of that. Some it will be Wealthy People. To me it is those that think they are different and cool yet they are just like a great many others. The College area is also on Central kind of sandwiched between EDO and Nob Hill.

Meaning the people that think they are better than everyone else, but are average. Think mean HS girls .

Where is the "bad area"?

I can't really say. I don't get that vibe from any particular area of town. Abq is a very live and let live city. All different types of people live with each other. Of course you have certain economic levels that tend to live in a particular area. But in Albuquerque even that can be mixed. Take the Albuquerque Country Club area or Ridgecrest. Both are affluent but are also very near not so affluent areas.
