I have been using bluehost with no joy.
They constantly log me out and their support is no good.

Is there anything good as an alternate that is local?

Not sure local but Yahoo, hotmail, and gmail are good.

I get my internet from Southwest Cyberport and they have an email service. My friend uses LoboNet. My brother uses CenturyLink for internet and he could use their email service but I think he still uses AOL. As for just an email service I have no clue. I have used Yahoo Mail for decades.

I would not recommend comcast or xfiniti.

I've had a Yahoo email for 25 years. I also have a gmail account that I rarely use and an Xfinity (Comcast) email because I use their internet service. I agree with DR56 about Comcast, their online email is generally clunky and still seems to be unable to recognize spam. But, I use Thunderbird, a free email client, and have linked all my email to it. It will usually work even when online access to Comcast will not.

Thunderbird also has an android app that I have not yet tried because I don't usually access my email through my phone, but the Yahoo android app works well.
