Consider what you wash your clothes with as well, detergent, softner, dryer sheets, etc. Try the scent free varieties to see if that helps.

If you were blessed with a place you could hang your laundry outside in the sun, and the breeze that would be ideal. Kissed by the sun. Just like in days of old. I would love to do that. Now I just hang my laundry up inside to dry. But it's not the same as outside at all.

I've had the exact same problem most all of my life. As long as I can remember, and I'm 75. It's a torment for sure, especially when you just want to sleep. The walmart variety of nasal stripes helps some without otc allergie meds, and they are cheaper than the other kind.

When I was little the family doc would make house calls to give me a shot in the butt. Most likely antibiotics which unknown to him do nothing for allergies, nor viruses. But they do kill our good gut bacteria which is like clear cutting our internal forests, and other wildlife. So, after yet another shot in the rear at age 3 I was so mad I wanted to call the cops on him. But I was a good kid, and just took it.

You can develop a tolerance to, and therefore a dependence on, nose sprays. That was my first thought on reading your post.
Hi Lodestar ,

Yes, it is called a Rebound Effect. It's a trap, of sorts. You have to taper off to back out of it. Or quit cold turkey, and get it over with sooner. Just do it! And stay away from them.

Ive tried most everything else otc, Sinex, Benydrl Zyrtc, and all the other brands, Flonase works the best, nothing else touches it.

Just wondering if anyone else has this problem and if they found something that worked longer. I know its allergies and I have had an allergy panel done, but my nose runs 365 days per year, Not just one season. its driving me nuts.
You are using too much Flonase. It can become actually what is causing your nose to run. Try to use a neti pot. Saline instead of flonase. Go to the ENT and see if they can help you. But I had the same issue as you and I was using way too much nose spray. The transition period to stop using it wasn't fun but it was necessary.

Flonase doesn't cause rebound congestion.

They may have nothing to do with your condition but, I know many veterans that have had nasal running issues, myself included. Many had or were diagnosed with allergies (environmental, consumption, etc) and standard treatments ultimately failed. Since the VAMC does maintain active ailments list and studies for various issues that are not responding to or are failing normal treatments, they began a review and had many undergo physical screenings for physical conditions. It turned out that many did have physical nasal conditions that were contributing to or may likely have been the primary or contributing cause. Often the medication treatments simple arrested or masked the physical condition. Left untreated, some of those physical conditions will grow or change shape to where no medication is going to relive the problem.

In my case, knowing I had a spring allergy issues and having used medications successfully as a child growing up, during my military service, medication stopped working. My ENT did some scans and scoping with interesting results. Apparently, I always had a small issue that was mistaken as allergies. Since the allergy medication worked, nobody ever went further. During my service, the physical condition was aggravated and changed enough that the medication no longer arrested the draining. Once the physical issue was properly discovered, a small surgical procedure was advised. The procedure was the micro cutting and suturing of an area of my nasal cavity, all done through the nose. After healing, it's been 2 years with NO nasal dripping. My normal spring allergies suddenly disappeared. The allergy medication had just been keeping the dripping annoyance in check so was thought to have been the solution. But as the physical condition changed, the medication's ability to take away the annoyance, could no longer keep up. The medication didn't stop working, it was never the proper solution to begin with.

My point, don't discount a physical issue; have it properly examined by a qualified specialist.

I have this problem too, and it’s definitely triggered by certain foods. I’ve had a food sensitivity test and nothing really stands out as the culprit. I just make sure to always have tissues.

Not exactly ideal given the amount of varying pollen possible.

Here's something you might want to consider, and that's a nasal flush. You get the containers, along with the saline powder, at places like Walgreen's or even whatever chain is near you. Use water and saline and just tilt your head and flush water through your nostrils. You'd be amazed what wonders it can do. I've done it three times a day for several years, and it's helped keep the runny nose, allergies, crud, and cold symptoms at bay. Also helps you breathe a lot better.

(NOTE THAT THIS IS NOT SPAM ALTHOUGH IT MAY LOOK LIKE IT)

Have you considered cryotherapy? It's relatively new, but it's meant to be a post-medical solution to chronic rhinitis. My cousin has chronic PND and her ENT suggested this procedure. She hasn't had the procedure (yet) but is considering it.
