I live in Toronto and visit AA frequently. There is nothing in Southern Ontario that compares to it. It does remind me of Cambridge a bit. You will love it. U of M beautiful campus, lots of cool restaurants and retail around the campus. Friendly midwesterners. People will tell you the high cost of housing, compared to other parts of the Midwest including Metro Detroit, sure....but compared to Southern Ontario even with the exchange rate affordable! Take a drive once the land border reopens. Good luck.

Thanks for your response. Very encouraging and helpful, especially given your perspective from Toronto. We would have taken a drive to AA this weekend if it weren't for the closure of the border.

Caution: Stupid Question Coming.

I know from the highway signage that us Yanks are not allowed to enter Canada freely. But are Canadian residents being turned away from entering the US or from returning to Canada after brief visits?

BTW: We live in Ypsilanti Township, the most affordable Ann Arbor suburb area.

If they cross over to the States, they have to do a mandatory 14 day quarantine once they return.
