The best thing you can say about Winslow is...

You can stand on a corner...

and hope a car hits you and puts you out of your misery.

But is it slowing down to look at me? And most importantly, is it a girl, my lord, in that flatbed Ford?

Winslow is basically a Western extension of the Great Plains, but drier.

It would not be my CHOICE to live there for a myriad of reasons, but I've never been "turned off" driving through it, either.

I'd certainly take it over the primary Plains such as eastern CO or Kansas or Nebraska.

I disagree halfway with Nebraska. Have you ever been to the panhandle part of the state? It's actually quite scenic.

Hschlick84,

Yes, I know the butte-country of western NE and I agree it is lovely, but from there, it's eons of driving to almost everywhere, anywhere else I'd want to go.

From Winslow--the high mountains of Flagstaff, the Grand Canyon, the Mojave of Kingman on west, the Arizona Rim country to the south, the high Sonoran Desert "sky islands" of SE AZ, and even Albuquerque are all relatively close and many are just a straight shot away on I-40.

Winslow has two things going for it.
1. The Turquoise Room is the best restaurant in Northern Arizona.
2. Winslow is commute-friendly to Flagstaff.
