Here's the link for Johnson Crater, a neat place I've been to many times:

And another crater several miles from that one, in the wall of a small canyon it appears:

There are a few others visible on satellite imagery too. Would be neat to get some research on this apparent meteor impact field.
None of those are meteor craters. The force of a meteor impact leaves a raised rim of earth and rock around the crater. As can be seen in this photo.

None of the sinkholes referenced above have such a rim, in fact the edges are sloping downward toward the middle of the sinkhole.

Have heard of a tremendous natural sinkhole in this area that was featured in Natl. Geographic once (supposedly) as world's deepest. I grew up in Kaibab Estates West and have been to Dante's Descent, but never could track down the "rumored" (???) Big One. Northern AZ has many legends, is this one of them?
There is a huge meteor crater ESE of Flagstaff, but it is so well known I doubt that is what the OP is asking about. http://tiny.cc/499mcz Photo above.

Next I thought it might be Devil's Kitchen, outside of Sedona. http://tiny.cc/499mcz

Why am I interested in this? I have family in the area and visit there often.

I found a few more sinkholes and some additional information on some of them:

Devil's Dining Room: 34.84027778, -111.75527778 <--- enter in google maps search.

Mitten Ridge sinkhole: (cave) 34.880377, -111.722308 <--- enter in google maps search. This sinkhole is hard to find, it is a small opening at the base on the West face of a huge rock wall.

Nolan Draw:
34.88361111, -111.91972222 <--- enter in google maps search.

Red Canyon Sinkhole : 34.914856, -111.898624 <--- enter in google maps search. "Red Canyon sinkhole is by far the largest sinkhole in the Sedona area. It lies on the eastern side of a low bedrock ridge located east of the Palatki Heritage archaeological site". Archaeological site in a red sandstone canyon, home to ancient cliff dwellings with pictographs.

4543 Sinkhole : 34.89305556, -111.87861111 <--- enter in google maps search. In sharp contrast to Red Canyon, the 4543 sinkhole is the smallest in the Sedona area

Devils Kitchen: Arizona Geological Report http://repository.azgs.az.gov/sites/...CR_Jan2010.pdf

This report lists the sinkholes in the Sedona area and provides a lot of detail about each one.

Actually Johnson Crater and most of them in the area are volcanic. Which makes sense, since there is a butt ton of volcanic rock in and around my property.

Please give more info on where it is.
I know of only a couple in the area.

Thank you
