My wife and I are thinking of buying a house in Kingman. Any areas to avoid; best areas to check out. I know about the weather etc. We are retired, no kids and are interested in single family homes only.
Thank you for your help.

Hualapai Mt Rd has the more exclusive neighborhoods. Also the Old Town Beale and 66 stretch has been revitalized.

Avoid Butler/Birdland areas.

Going southeast on Hualapai Mtn Road from town, toward Hualapi Mtn Park, turn left on Central Ave at the big water tank. To the left you have Fripps Ranch, to the right you have Southern Vista Estates. Both of these neighborhoods have newer beautiful homes, some still being built last I checked. Fripps homes are generally a little smaller. Some of the homes in Southern Vista Estates have 1 acre lots. When you're done exploring in there, take Yavapai to Southern Ave and go right (southeast again I think), the very next neighborhood has streets with names of American Indian tribes. These are bigger more impressive homes. Continue on Southern Ave and you'll come to the Rancho Santa Fe (I think that's the name), all the street names have country and western names. Very nice neighborhood, but beware of the homes that back up against I40 if you're bothered by highway noise. Get back out to Hualapai Mtn Rd, and continue southeast as you start to go up the mountain, and turn right on into Lazy YU. These are huge custom homes on 5 acre lots (or something huge like that) with great views.

There are less expensive neighborhoods too if all these are too expensive. But you get a hell of a lot of home for the price there.

This is great, thank you so much! My wife and I will be over there in November and we will definitely check this area out.
