What is the difference between Hot Springs and Hot Springs Village?
What all does Hot Springs Village have to offer and is the there a lake at the Village??

Two Cities
Simple answer - Hot Springs Village was designed and build to service the retired community. It has developed into more than this over time but at it's roots and mission is around the 50 Plus community. The whole Hot Springs Village is a closed - gate controlled community.

Lakes in HSV
There are twelve lakes within the gates of the village. The largest is 944 acres and has a launching ramp, beach, pavilion and a marina. Included in the twelve is a 100 acre water supply lake which is off-limits. The lake sizes of the other ten are: 380 ac., 245 ac., 200 ac., 62 ac., 50 ac., 36 ac., 26ac., 24 ac., 21 ac. and 11 ac. Within 20 miles (+,-) is Lake Ouachita and it is very large. I couldn't even start to mention all that HSV has to offer. Try

regardless of how HSV got started, it is no longer a retirement community or a community for 50 plusers. There are schools, good shopping, lots of family life and yes, golf courses everywhere. I would consider it a planned community, not a senior one. it is like Bella Vista but even more diversified.
Hot SPrings is more a tourist town, more liberal, artsy, lots of antique stores, trendy to a degree.
For those who want the life offered in tourist areas but some stability as many are full time residence Hot Springs is awesome. For those who want a more controlled area, with lots of community activities HSV would be a better bet.

The distance between HS and HSV is short, but its a completely different world. I suggest you come visit and decide for yourself.
You will need a property owner or other 'sponsor' (real estate agent, etc) to get in the HSV gate. I'll be happy to do that for you, and even give you a guided tour on the weekend or after work weekdays.
The other posts were very good. In particular, Nita was right on about the activities. You can find something to do 13x7. That's 7am to 8pm, 7 days a week - we close early
A few additional deciding points...
(1) if you are a golfer, there is no decision, it is HSV
(2) 'small town' (HS) to a forested setting (HSV)
(3) (typically) shorter drives (HS) less traffic (HSV)

We've been to HS several times and are ready to make an offer on a Home.... We'd been looking mainly in HSV ...love the vibe, the lakes, amenities etc. The seclusion is also nice....BUT I fell in love with a home in Hot Springs proper... However it's not too far from Oak Lawn........is that a questionable area? I'm an artist, would love to work in a gift shop or Gallery PT and thought maybe being closer to town would be an option. Feed back please
