I am thinking about moving to Brookstone in Acworth and I would like to hear from some people who live there. What, in your opinion, are the best and worst elements of living in that area.
It looks to be very well-kept and sales seem to still be holding their own there, but I wonder if it is one of those places that has an HOA that is rule-crazy and acts like the lawn-nazi every time you don't edge the lawn after you mow. I hope not.
So, anyone who lives there and has first-hand knowledge of the neighborhood, I would love to hear what you have to say!
Thanks

I don't live in Brookstone, but we did consider it very seriously when buying 3 years ago, and even went as far to put in an offer on a home there. One thing to consider is where you work and your commute. Although Stilesboro Road has just been widened to Barrett Pkwy, traffic to/from the Brookstone area can get seriously backed up, and you are usually dependent on Burnt Hickory or Stilesboro.

I also almost purchased a home in Brookstone, twice. Once was when I moved to the area, the other time was about 6 months ago when I found a few dirt cheap foreclosures. Here is what I know about the HOA... there are 2 sets of dues, a cheaper amount if you don't want to use the pool, and a more expensive amount if you do. I also know that Brookstone's HOA has significant amounts of the dues in the bank that they are not touching... so if you feel weird about people taking your money just to bank it (like I do) then I would avoid.

MAny houses are nice, but parts of the neighborhood / other phases are much older. As far as resell value, it can be good, but yoru mileage may vary... I have seen some steals in Brookstone over the last couple years. Houses that would have been much more keep going down, down, down.

Traffic in the area stinks.

That is all!
