I've noticed that Atlanta is a big Financial Technology hub and growing,

Tier Technologies, Inc for example moved it's headquarters from northern Virginia to Atlanta then changed its name to Official Payments Holdings.

Payments processing giant First Data Corp. is expanding, with plans to add more than 100 jobs and open an “innovation center” in Sandy Springs.
First Data, which employs about 1,400 statewide, provides the technology that allows people to use credit cards online and in retail stores. The Fortune 250 company also provides transaction processing — serving as an intermediary, connecting financial institutions with merchants.

Its great to see Atlanta becoming a sort of a hub in the south for fintech/payments processing firms - it could only mean more jobs especially tech/IT jobs.

I think it is a continuation of the trend that anything that doesn't have to be done "face to face" can be done cheaper elsewhere in the country besides NYC or DC. This is a pretty interesting read on the finance side. I suspect technology is following suit - as NOVA/DC is getting to be a pretty pricey place to live.

This isn't that surprising. Atlanta has always benefited from a good geographic position being equidistant between many of the countries largest cities.

The "backbone" of the internet is run along the most direct/highest capacity routes. Just like the interstates and rail connections.

Atlanta offers the ability to receive large amounts of data from different parts of the countries largest cities at cheaper rates from more places.
