After some research for a nice place to relocate from upstate NY I have come across some ideas about Augusta being a nice area to live. One of my main concerns is the weather. My husband and I want a milder climate than we have now but he is looking towards FL and I'm not sure I want to put up with all of the hurricanes and tornadoes.

According to my data the Augusta area is not prone to hurricanes or tornadoes- is this really the case?

We wouldn't want to be right in a big city, we are hoping for a outlying suburb or even more rural town. Preferrably with low crime and good schools or an option of a private or religious school available.

If we take a vacation to the Augusta area next summer to check out the area and real estate what would there be to do recreationaly with two children ages 7 and 4?

Any information on Augusta and the surrounding areas (30miles) would be greatly appreciated and helpful!

I see you want to move to Augusta. Best thing to do is come here between now and november, you'll get the real feeling of the 100 degree heat with the humidity of 95 percent. (no joke) With no breezes. (We call it the arm pit of the south) HOT and STICKY.
I grew up here, left in 1993 for south fla, but came back for my parents. South fla is cooler!!!
My husband and I are trying to get out of here.
Just so ya know.

Default arm pit

Thanks for the honest opinion, I wasn't aware of the hotness factor, I'm always thinking FL is much hotter.
