We are having to choose new Insurance. The plans we are looking at cover Dr's at Scott & White, Timberland Med Group and Fam Med Center. We're new to the area, so I have no idea about any of these groups. Also have a couple of fam members that will need to see specialist, so that is important too.

Both plans seem to have several primary docs in Cedar Park. Anyone have experience, good or bad, with any of these drs?

No, but for what its worth, my family goes to ARC and I chose them specifically because they have almost all the specialist that you would need within the ARC families and easy to get appointments and urgent care hours which was important for us with very young kids. Perhaps you may want to check out ARC to see if they take your insurance

If you use Scott and White doctors and have to go to the hospital for a procedure, you will have to go to Temple to the Scott and White hospitals there. Those doctors do not have privileges at Austin hospitals (Seton or St. David's).

We are also an ARC family, great doctors and the same-day appointments and after-hour care are wonderful. And they can see you in an Austin hospital.

What does ARC stand for? Good to know about having to go to Temple for hospital trips. Hope that is not needed, but you never know!

Austin Regional Clinic
ARC - Austin Regional Clinic

Lol.. Been here only 18 months and I've forgotten that i didn't know what ARC stood for what i was told that. There's like 6 or 7 specialiaties with offices in cedar park alone that we've used including. Peds, Family medicine, internal medicine, ENT, Allergy/pulmonolgy, Oby/gyn. All within 5 minutes of each.. Peds on Discovery and the others on 1431 next to Costco and inside Cedar Park Regional hospital. We've gone to Seton Northwest on 183 for peds hospital visit. I believe they also treat at CP hospital. They also have clinics in RR ( gone there for urgent care) and also on Far West ( lots of specialties there). I believe that may have up to 10 clinics within the Austin area since i know of like 3 more or so in NW Austin outside of the CP ones. There only time we had to go to the downtown clinic was for an Ortho consult. The only time that we've had to go outside ARC was for a peds general surgery consult but also just went to a practice in the CP hospital

There's a Scott and White Hospital in Round Rock, and an emergency room in Cedar Park. Are they new?

Yes, and the services are quite limited. Scott and White is really pushing into north Austin. It depends on what your family's specific needs are -- generally for big time orthopedic, gastro, rhumy stuff, you have to go to the big hospital in Temple. Just something to be aware of. I've known people who lived here for years and had families with specific needs for certain specialists, S&W had the doctors they wanted but then if a family member had to be hospitalized, then they were having to travel more than 50 miles to Temple and they were shocked and surprised. Your S&W doctor will never be able to see you at Dell Children's, Seton's or St. Davids. And vice versa.

So, my primary care doctor is with Timberland.

It seems like they push people in and out of there. Service is OK.

I only go there because it is on the same campus as where I work, so I wan walk to an appointment and not take time from work.

My specialists are all with Scott and White. I had a dermatology surgery at the clinic in Round Rock, they did a great job, very high level of care I would recommend it.

I used their optical clinic, and had an eye exam. My only gripe is that for some reason they billed me the full portion then told me to get the money from Aetna. This was odd, I have never had anyone do that before.

When I have LASIK surgery, I am going to the Scott and White eye center in Temple.

Fairly new. Here's some old ratings from several years ago:

Scott and White Hospital - Round Rock - Round Rock, TX | Healthgrades.com

Looks like it provides pretty good service overall, unless you're going in for a pacemaker, busted hip, or a vaginal birth.

A cute nurse tech administered my colonoscopy there last year, so there's that. Plus Austin Heart is now a part of S&W in RR.

I hope I have a few good years left with both my heart and hips. The baby thing is done!
