You can't force your kids to be fans, they have their own lives to live.
Agreed.. i have taken all my kids to a NASCAR race but only my middle son loves it. so now i just take him.. I did do some gocart racing research some time ago and you would NOT BELIEVE the initial investment cost.. or maybe you would. I would LOVE to be able to finance my son in gocart racing but i just can't.. not that and feed the other two as well!

We have a much older Jeep that is pretty easy to wrench on and I let the twins take things apart and put things together. They love it.

With the other cars though it is all I can do to keep from from breaking something delicate and expensive while working on it so they stay away.

This kind of disconnect today's kids have with cars surely doesn't help fuel the sport.

The Ringling Brothers Circus mentioned the difficulty keeping this generation of technology addicted kids occupied for any length of time...................don't think these kids can watch a race like Daytona for hours waiting for the big one.

My two cents.

Yeah it's a different world and racing just isn't going to make it. Kids don't even want to get their licenses at 16. Kid next door is turning 15. Asked if he's going to get his learners permit, 'meh, nah'. Crazy! I was already driving by then. haha I know I got into racing dirt bike racing in the desert. That was amazing, such great times. From there it's natural to pick up auto-racing. Though I've still never been to a nascar race.

Most of the races I watch now I see the first 15 laps, and the last 15 laps. I take a nap.
