I think Dale Jr is a good driver, as good as any out there, people like to campare him with his father but it's 2008 and his father s style of racing is gone, jr's time is coming.
I think he is. I think his popularity comes from his fathers fan base. When he passed, his fans just carried over to his namesake. Ask alot of his fans and they start with "I was a Sr fan but now....."

At times it seems the most important qualities of a NASCAR driver are the abilty to lure sponsors and sell product, in that respect I don't think Junior's overrated at all.
Overrated as a race car driver? Of course he is. Sears Point in a real sports car, Almost killed himself literally. Never up front on road courses, no open wheel career... I could go on for days.
And he wasnt Rookie of the year as previously mentioned, Matt Kenseth was and he already has a championship.
hes third in points! nuff said? look at all the dnfs hes had last year, put him in a Hendrick car for the last 5 years, he probably would have at least one championship under his belt.
