So I've been planning on making a custom Batmobile after I get done with some other projects and was thinking of doing it with a 1st gen Corvair coupe, but then I found a 58 Tbird for sale and it reminded me a lot of the Batmobile with it's fin line, headlights, cowl hood, etc. This is probably because it along with the concept car used for the Batmobile were both 50s Ford products. Anyway does anyone else have any suggestions for a Batmobile custom?
do you want to be authentic or merely derivative? if you want to at least try to be authentic, then find a 59 lincoln since that is what the original bat mobile was built from.
I'm thinking the steering wheel isn't right, and I don't think Batman had a knob on the wheel in place of no power steering, but none the less I bet it was awesome to see it. I don't know if I'd put fire exhaust on mine, but definitely a light on top. Not sure how I'd work the roof bar, but I probably won't leave in a back window.
That 89 replica is cool, but I don't have $300k plus I want to do a 66 look. Maybe someday an 89 tribute built on a 80s f body could work. Also the 66 was built using a 55 Lincoln Futura concept which after being repainted red, featured in a movie, was bought by George Barris. While I'd like to have an exact replica, I doubt I'd be able to build it.
