I filled up yesterday and I paid about $2.94 (293.9) a gallon for the 89 grade, and that's 4 cents higher than just a week ago.

According to "Experts", the reason we've seen the recent rise in gas prices is because of the problems between the Iraqi Kurds and Turkey.

It's more like an excuse for oil companies to raise prices.

The pump price is almost 3 dollars in No Va. It's risen 30-40 cents in the past several weeks. Blame the high price of oil on the Fed and the Treasury for using the printing press to finance the war and the arms race. Since the bond yields no longer compensate for inflation, investors are using other assets (stocks, commodities, etc.) to protect themselves against the falling dollar and rising inflation.

Most oil companies get a 18-25.00 a barrel kick back. I was in the gas business for a long time. Its the most cut throat business in the US. But people follow like sheep and pay what ever they ask . Look at the profits for the last 6-8 Quarters. No one is willing to do anything about it. WAKE UP!!!!

The price just went up another 10 cents overnight to $3.50 for regular, $3.60 for super, $3.70 for premium and $3.80 for diesel. I guess that the oil companies are going to make a killing again this winter and our wonderful government is not going to step in and stop them.

According to wikipedia, Exxon had smaller profit margins in 2006 than McDonalds, GE, Sprint....just to name a few.

What should we do about that?

What do you mean by your kick back comment, you have me curious.

Default Mathguy, do the math!

They post their revenues. Exxon isn't dumb. They deduct their business expenditures from their profit and post the difference. They are actually making tons more. Every business practices this.

$3.10-$3.20 gallon in NC.

It will be $4 gallon by the end of next year! Prices will probably never go below $3 gallon after Jan 1, '08.

Uhm, can you tell me of some other method of calculating profits other than revenues minus expenses?

If you think that Exxon isn't dumb and they are making tons of money, buy their stock.

Gas ain't high in the US...WE are spoiled.

considering the oil companies make BILLIONS AND BILLIONS of dollars every quarter, Id say gas prices are to high and we arent spoiled, especially since they were about 1/3 of the price just 7 years ago

the only people who think otherwise are people who have stock in oil and enjoy seeing the price shoot up every day

why would they step in, Outside of Enron all the Oil companies were the biggest supporters to Bush's campaign, the Bush family probably has millions in oil stock as well as some under the table money, one of the incentives to Bush's presidency was the oil pigs were going to make an even incredgilous amount of ass loads of dollars to the already ass loads of dollars they were already making

God Bless America and God Bless President Bush, if there is one good thing you can say about him he is loyal to the people who put him in power
