You may be surprised to learn they have discovered using a speaker phone is only slightly less distracting and dangerous than holding a phone while conversing. For some reason, talking on the telephone tends to causes people to lose their focus, but conversing with someone in the car does not. Perhaps the psychologists can give us an explanation someday.

I don't use a speakerphone, and don't like it when most others do. It takes far more focus to listen to someone who is using a speakerphone in their car. When one of my friends calls me on hers, I have to basically stop what I'm doing to have a chat with her.
