I test drove a Patriot when they first came out. It was a 30 MPG AWD with plenty of room, and I was actually looking forward to the test drive. Disappointed was putting it midly, this was one of the most awful vehicles that ever escaped. In this day and age where even base model cars can be very good, the Patriot/Compass were not just not very good but really really bad. Both were based off the Caliber which wasn't any better.

Look for something better. Compass reviews are not bad, they are terrible. The CVT transmission is bad news also.
